The IT Director is responsible for several major IT departments and/or complex corporate-wide systems and processes, which includes managing multiple levels of management and high-level resources. Reviews systems development project requests and coordinates schedules and related department priorities. Ensures effective coordination and technical support across departments or systems areas. Delegates project assignments to department managers to meet organizational goals. Provides direction and guidance for the analysis and evaluation of current or proposed technology-related solutions that address business problems. Confers with and advises managers on technical issues and methods, and policies and procedures. Implements methods to maximize department efficiency, oversees the work of the department, and reports on department activities. Consults with and advises other departments in the use of assigned system area. Drives complex system-related projects to meet business goals and solve business problems with technology. Consistently demonstrates leadership in focusing the organization on key activities that have a significant impact on the Company. Works effectively with other organizational leaders to meet Company goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree in an IT discipline, which could include computer science or MIS OR at least four years of experience in a professional IT-related role. - At least 12-15 years of related work experience in IT, which should include eight or more years successfully managing multiple IT functions. - Proven ability to develop and implement effective IT strategies, business plans, and policies for their functional area. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, including business leaders and executives. - Must have the demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve desired results and work with other organizational leaders to meet company goals. - Ability to consistently demonstrate leadership and the ability to focus the organization on key IT activities that have a significant impact on the company. - Must have strong leadership and management skills with experience leading, directing, and overseeing the work of others.
The Director in this position is responsible for mission-critical telephony applications of Progressive's multiple lines of business. These applications support the successful delivery of millions of calls monthly through the enterprise via: high quality Interactive Voice Response applications, include speech recognition; Computer Telephony Integration; call routing and delivery logic for Progressive's multiple distribution channels and claims processing; and the data management and analysis required to support this complex environment. The person will oversee all application development pertaining to these business services leading a staff of 170 people with diverse skill sets. Technologies used in the department include C#.Net, VXML, CCXML, ICM/PBX programming, SQL, DB2, Microsoft Analysis Services, OLAP data structures, and Telecom carrier proprietary tools. Additionally, this person will partner with the Telecom network engineering group to deliver on joint strategy for migration to VOIP and other emerging technologies.
Telecom software development is complex IT platform due to the diverse applications and technologies required to manage this environment.

In addition to internally developed or supported technologies, our Telecom environment uses external hosting providers. Experience working with and managing vendor organizations is helpful.||
